Founded in 2002, DaQian specializes in high-end hand-tufted carpets. For more than two decades we have blended traditional handcraft with contemporary design, making bespoke carpets for world-class luxury hotels and private residences, as well as commercial projects around the world.

Chen & Co. Carpets brings that work directly to your home. There is no importer, wholesaler or showroom between our factory floor and yours — which is why you pay for the rug, not the markup.

We specialize in hand-tufting: a method that pairs precise custom design with a rich, handmade texture. Here is how your rug is made:

1. 01Design transfer

   Your design is drawn full-scale onto a cotton backing canvas stretched on an upright frame.

2. 02Tufting

   An artisan follows the drawing with a hand-held tufting gun, pushing yarn through the canvas color by color.

3. 03Backing

   The reverse is coated to lock every tuft in place, then covered with a secondary backing.

4. 04Shearing & carving

   The pile is sheared level, then carved by hand where the design calls for sculpted detail.

5. 05Finishing

   Edges are bound by hand, and the rug is washed, inspected and measured before it ships.

Our core strength is choosing and mastering raw materials. We work with New Zealand wool, cashmere, cotton, nylon, silk and bamboo fiber, alone or blended. New Zealand wool is valued for its resilience and colorfastness; silks and bamboo fiber bring sheen. Whether you want extreme softness, durability or a particular luster, we will suggest the right material or combination. Design leads every custom project. Bring your own vision, start from one of our in-house designs, or simply give us a color palette and a style preference — our design team will bring it to life. Our standard pom box holds 1,680 yarn colors, so your colors can be matched precisely.

A sample is the first step in quality assurance. We typically tuft a sample within 15 days of confirming the final design and materials, and send it by international courier so you can check color, texture and quality before full production.

Every rug is made in our own factory in Shantou, China. We say that plainly because you deserve to know where your rug comes from, and because we are proud of the people who make it.
